چکیده

Lateral wedge insoles are recommended in order to minimize the impacts of osteoarthritis knee. The amount wedging required induce a biomechanical response with clinical significance is still controversial. This study aimed investigate immediate effects different amounts symptomatic medial knee OA. A 3D motion capture system and five force platforms were used acquire walking kinematic kinetic data along 10 m walkway. Each participant was tested for six lateral (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10°) randomized order. Thirty-eight patients recruited. application resulted an incremental reduction first peak external adduction moment under all experimental conditions comparison control condition (0° insole). significant increase (p < 0.05) observed ankle eversion at higher than 8° 6°, respectively. Slight variations insoles, greater 2°, appear changes osteoarthritis.

The Effects of Unloader Knee Orthosis and Lateral Wedge Insole in Patients with Mild and Moderate Knee Osteoarthritis (OA)

Objectives: Patients suffering from mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis may be treated with unloader knee orthoses or laterally wedged insoles. The aim of this study was to identify and compare the effects of two orthoses in these patients. Methods: 56 patients with medial compartment knee OA were evaluated when wearing an unloader knee orthosis and insoles with a 6° lateral wedge which wer...

Lateral wedge shoe insoles for medial knee osteoarthritis: a 12-month randomised controlled trial

Methods A randomised participantand assessor-blinded controlled trial was used. 200 people aged 50 or more with clinical and radiographic diagnosis of mild-to-moderately severe medial knee OA were recruited. The interventions consisted of full-length 5° lateral wedged insoles or flat control insoles worn inside the shoes daily for 12 months. The primary symptomatic outcome was change in overall...
